The highly anticipated Championship game of the CDMFA 2023 Season unfolded on Saturday, May 13th, at the hallowed grounds of Larry Olexiuk Field in St. Albert. The clash between the Sturgeon Storm and the Battle River Shock was a battle for the ages, captivating fans with its twists and turns until the very last moment.
Right from the kickoff, it was evident that both teams were prepared to leave everything on the field. The Battle River Shock quickly took charge, seizing an early advantage with two well-executed touchdowns, granting them a 16-0 lead. The Shock's offence showcased their skills and tenacity, seemingly in control of the game.
However, the Sturgeon Storm refused to back down. Determined to rally, they found their stride and mounted a fierce comeback. May 6th, 2023 - Lacombe, Alberta
In a highly anticipated matchup between two top-seeded teams, the Sturgeon Storm clashed with the Battle River Shock on May 6th, 2023, at the Shocks' home turf in Lacombe, Alberta. The atmosphere was electric as fans eagerly awaited this showdown between the league's best.
The Storm stormed out of the gates, displaying their offensive prowess with two impressive touchdowns in the first half. Their relentless determination and well-executed plays put them in a commanding position heading into halftime. April 15th, 2023 - Jasper Place Bowl
The Sturgeon Storm continued their unbeaten run in the season, securing a hard-fought 8-6 victory over the Millwoods Grizzlies at the Jasper Place Bowl in Edmonton Alberta on April 15th
.
It was a tough first half for the Storm, going up against the Grizzlies' strong defense. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to break through and found themselves trailing 6-1 heading into halftime.
But the Storm didn't let this setback get them down. They came out firing in the second half, determined to turn the game around. Their defense was particularly impressive, shutting down the Grizzlies' offense and preventing them from adding to their lead.
As the clock ticked down, the Storm continued to push forward, and their hard work paid off when they finally managed to break through the Grizzlies' defense for a crucial touchdown. The Sturgeon Storm continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing 34-7 victory over the Red Dogs at the Larry Olexiuk Field in St. Albert on April 8th 2023.
Right from the opening kickoff, it was clear that the Storm meant business. They came out hot, scoring a touchdown early in the first quarter and setting the pace for the rest of the game. Their offence was firing on all cylinders, with impressive performances from a number of players.
But it wasn't just their offence that was dominating the game. The Storm's defence was equally impressive, stifling any attempts by the Red Dogs to make a comeback. Their defensive line was particularly strong, consistently putting pressure on the Red Dogs' quarterback and forcing turnovers.

April 2nd, 2023 - Jasper Place Bowl
The Sturgeon Storm kicked off their season with a bang, dominating the Edmonton Seahawks in a 42-7 victory at the Jasper Place Bowl in Edmonton Alberta on April 2nd.
The game was a showcase of the Storm's impressive offensive power, with standout player #14 Arlen Grey leading the charge with three impressive touchdowns. Grey's performance was truly the highlight of the game, as he expertly maneuvered his way around the Seahawks' defence time and time again, leaving them unable to stop his incredible speed and agility.
But it wasn't just Grey who shone in this game. The entire Sturgeon Storm team played with a ferocity and determination that was unmatched by their opponents, and their defence in particular was rock-solid throughout the entire game, effectively shutting down any attempts by the Seahawks to mount a comeback.
All in all, it was a great start to the season for the Sturgeon Storm, and one that they will no doubt be hoping to build on in the coming weeks.
